Living in a building during restoration: what residents should be told

2026-02-09 · 4 min

Noise hours, balcony access, pedestrian routing and the one phone number that prevents most complaints.

Most complaints during a restoration project are not about the work. They are about not knowing what happens tomorrow.

Noise hours in writing

Publish the start and stop times before mobilization and hold to them. Chipping concrete at 7:00 a.m. is legal and still avoidable.

Balcony access notice

Residents should get written notice at least 72 hours before their balcony comes out of use, with the return date on the same notice.

Pedestrian routing

Nobody walks under a swing stage. Routes, barricades and lighting go on a drawing that is posted in the lobby.

One phone number

A single named contact for residents. When every question has one destination, the manager stops being the switchboard.

No-cost building assessment

Send the report. We walk the building at no cost.

About 45 minutes on site, then a line-item proposal within 24 hours of the walkthrough. If the scope is not ours, we tell you on the spot and say who to call.
